Hideo Kojima posted a photo of the White Raiden figure, developed by Play Arts Kai (Square Enix).

Exclusive to the UK limited edition of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and the Japanese Premium Edition, you can only get this Raiden figure by ordering the game at UK retailer Zavvi, or at Konami Style Japan.

Play Arts is known for manufacturing high quality, but expensive figures, so be prepared to open your wallet if you want to get your hands on this. The European limited edition is being sold for £99,99, or €128.99 if you live outside the UK, the Japanese for ¥12,980 or $99,99.

Hideo Kojima has posted some new FoxEngine screens (click to enlarge).

The screens show Snake from Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes standing in the Kojima Productions office that was used before in a lighting demo for the new engine. Snakes is holding the MGS 25th Anniversary bento box that Kojima Productions received two days ago from Sony. They used a 3D scanner to create this image in about two hours.

In honor of Metal Gear’s 25th Anniversary Kojima Productions received a special Metal Gear themed lunchbox from Sony. The box itself is in the shape of a PlayStation 3 Super Slim. Inside is an edible Metal Gear art made of food.

The faces are the top layer and the ‘cardboard boxes’ the second layer.

Kojima explained the ingredients: the faces are made of mashed potatoes. The bandana is seaweed. The beard and hair are made of green onion. The eye whites are quail eggs.

Last weekend (Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 of December) several stores in different Japanese cities were holding a special Metal Gear Rising Revengeance promotion. Customers could try out the demo in store, and receive a special flyer or even a t-shirt if they performed well in the game. The Japanese Kojima Productions Blog as well as KP staff member Tsubayaki Jiroo posted some photos of the event online.

These are the promotional items people could obtain.

Konami revealed the US boxart for Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. It was posted on the official Metal Gear Solid Facebook page.

The game will be available in the US on February 19 2013.

It was already released on the Japanese PlayStation store yesterday, but next month (January) the Metal Gear Rising Revengeance demo will be available for download in all regions. Konami announced this on their official Twitter page.

Today saw the release of the Metal Gear Rising Revengeance demo in the Japanese PlayStation 3 online store. At the moment it is only available to Japanese players (others can download it from the Japanese store, but won’t be able to install it).

You will be able to battle the enemies LQ-84i and Moonlight, among others.

In addition, the official Japanese site for the game has been renewed. You can check it out here.

The full game will be released in 2013: February 19 in the US, 21 in Japan and 22 in Europe.

As if the rumors surrounding the Metal Gear franchise haven’t been fueled enough the past few days, now Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu is teasing a surprise for the fans of the series. Next week they will have something surprising in store for Metal Gear Solid fans, or so they claim.

Of course this may be related to the Phantom Pain announcement last week, if that is indeed part of an elaborate promotional campaign. Or it could be something else entirely. Only time will tell. The next Famitsu will be out December 20.

A special collaboration between Kojima Productions and Tsutuya Book Store offers free book covers with Metal Gear designs to people who buy certain books. There’s a special section with books Kojima has read and recommends, and if you buy one of those you receive a paper cover as an extra. Kojima said on Twitter:

Visited TSUTAYA in Midtown where the bookfair of “The books Hideo Kojima has loved” has been held until end of Jan & if you buy one of those books you’ll get MGS special book cover during this time.

You can also see a Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes poster with Kojima’s signature on it.

The promotional offer will be held until the end of January.

The official Metal Gear Solid Facebook posted a new Metal Gear Rising gameplay video. This time you can see Raiden battling Mastiff.

You can also see one of the optional costumes, the mariachi outfit, in action.
